Getting Around: Pedicab In The Philippines

So you thought those six people on the motor-bike in the previous post were too many? Ha.I was in the front passenger seat in our van and we were travelling from one church to another somewhere in Panay (in the central part of the Philippines) when I saw a peculiar sight in front of me. It looked like a circus act... you know, one of those balancing acts with a hundred people on a bicycle? There was even a huge basket right on top of that motorised pedicab (a type of taxi in the Philippines)! We overtook them soon enough (well, of course we did, because they were slooooow!). The driver (in the blue cap) wasn't sitting on his motor-bike, he was standing! Try to count the people in it. You can't see all of them, but there were... twelve? Thirteen? Erm... perhaps twenty, if we imagine a few babies and children squeezed somewhere inside. Maybe there were babies in that basket, who knows.Even after 10 years of frequent visits to the Philippines (and 7 years to Cambodia), I still do a double take whenever I come upon circus acts like these on the roads.
